So when I first saw him
on TNN years ago with Ralph Emery I remember thinking, "He wrote THAT?...and
THAT?...and THAT?!?!..." Quite an impressive talent!
I think I was the last one approached to contribute to the tribute and "That's
How I Got To Memphis" was still available. I do get lucky sometimes! This
song has always just broken my heart. It's such a beautiful story and so well
done, such a simple and subtle rendering. Mr. Hall is just the consummate
storyteller. This song had obviously been done right the first time so we
just tried to have fun with it. Will Rigby and Tony Maimone laid down the
groovy rhythm and Mark Spencer did the rest. Mark was really the creative
genius behind our recording.
